Favorite Albums: Eternal Tears of Sorrow – A Virgin And A Whore [2001]

eternal_tears_of_sorrow__a _virgin_and_a_whore_front

“A Virgin And A Whore” is my favorite album from finnish melodic-death metal band Eternal Tears of Sorrow (ETOS).

It was their fourth album and it topped the Finnish Album Top 40 charts, ETOS disbanded after this album but reformed in 2005 and have since released 2 more albums…

What set this album apart from the rest is the mastery of keyboardist Pasi Hiltula and guitarist Antti Kokko (Kalmah), unfortunately both musicians left the band after recording this album.

Favorite Songs:

Aurora Borealis, Prophetian, Blood of Hatred

Megadeth GearTalk 2010

Megadeth Guitar Techs shares Megadeth’s rigs for their Rust In Peace 20th Anniversary Tour 2010.

Favorite Album Art: Inoran - Shadow

Inoran-Shadow

Shadow is an electronic instrumental album released by ex-Luna Sea guitarist Inoran in the year 2008. The music is pretty straight electronic-dance kinda stuff, the only song I like in the album is “a symmetry”….sadly the rest are quite generic and forgettable…..

The thing that caught my attention is this black heart on white canvas album cover.…just Beautiful…

Jazz guitarist Herb Ellis dies

herb_ellis

LOS ANGELES - HERB Ellis, the critically acclaimed jazz guitarist who played with such luminaries as Ella Fitzgerald and was once a member of the celebrated Oscar Peterson Trio, has died. He was 88.

Mitch Ellis, the musician's son, told The New York Times and Los Angeles Times that his father died Sunday of complications associated with Alzheimer's disease at his Los Angeles home.

Ellis, born in 1921 in Farmersville, Texas, was regarded as one of the finest jazz guitar soloists, mixing bebop with country twang in a career that spanned six decades.

He attracted the most notoriety performing with pianist Peterson and bassist Ray Brown in the Oscar Peterson Trio from 1953 to 1958. -- AP
