Of the five bands, X-Tech is my favorite they're more "complete", i don't really like Edmushyta's vocals (he can sing.. but it just doesn't do it for me, personal opinion..)

I feel Fatskunks is the dark horse, they have an outside choice of winning, i do enjoy their performances....

Cucu Datok Merah's performance was alot better than their previous one, they used their vocal strength to much better effect this time, doing harmony instead of taking turns to sing...

Since i don't understand malay(yes i am not malay, in case you didn't know..), i didn't know the other guitarist, Irfan, pulled-out of the competition because of work commitments until erm.. just before posting this entry....

anyway since they decided to join the competition with the vocalist (Ramsey..?), Helven should just stick to rap since the dude can't really sing that well (no offence bro)..

Dropped by esplanade to watch Zero Sequence & Lunarin play last night....



missed half of Zero Sequence's set as i arrived late....their playing was great but the songs didn't really do it for me....

it was a great performance really tight, though there was a slight technical glich with the drums..

they played some new songs from their upcoming album...

14th Guitar - Takamine EG361SC [G Series]

My 14th, Takamine EG361SC the most recent purchase got it a few months ago...primaryly for recording as i don't really play much acoustic stuff (i also can't play much acoustic stuff :P)

..so i did a little search on the Takamine site and found its birth date:
"The guitar was manufactured Tuesday, July 17th, 2007. It was the 97th guitar made that day."

that makes it 17072007, 97th guitar!

think i won't buy anymore guitars in 2008...... ;D

unfortunately, i don't play it as much as i would like to due to the locking mechanism (i play in several different tunings..so this isnt the most convenient..)

12th Guitar - Fender American Standard Strat

My 12th is another Fender, the old american standard...this pretty much handles all the softer stuff that i play..

everything is stock...i dont feel the need to change anything..

i sold off the Traditional strat after getting this...both are well constructed instruments but this just feels a bit more "solid" & has 1 more fret :D

11th Guitar - Gibson Les Paul Studio

My 11th guitar, quite heavily modded 1990 Gibson Les Paul Studio....

Mods:
- Refinished to purple
- Tuners changed to Grovers taken off a Gibson Custom LP
- Original TOM changed to Kahler Bridge & changed back to a TOM taken off the same Gibson Custom LP
- Early 90s EMG 81[B] &85[N] (i'm told they're less sterile sounding compared the to new ones, but i cant be sure as i've never AB-ed them..)
- Switchcraft jack installed
- Schaller strap buttons
- Gold speed knobs
- Custom "EyE-of-Ra" Pickguard & Translucent backplates made by Vincent Mah
- Gold PU selector knob & black plate

its not the prettiest, but out of all my guitars it plays & sounds the best...

Gearwire Crosstalk Black-Metal Riff-Off

So the riff i submitted got to the top 9 black-metal riff-off riffs, BUT i have a feeling theres only 6 riffs submitted in total....hahahahaha!

as out of the top 9, 3 are from the Gearwire staff themselves....hm....

anyway turnout is rather disappointing as most of the riffs submitted are NOT black-metal at all....

Nine Inch Nails - Echoplex

10th Guitar - Jackson RR5 [Randy Rhoads Sig.]

My 10th, probably the most flashly guitar i own, yes i still have this one :)

The Jackson RR5 is also my most expensive guitar(the hardcase alone costed $240!), had to take out a loan from a friend to finance this acquisition..fortunately i was still stayin' in camp at that period so didn't really spend much, think i managed to return the money within a couple months...hehe..

It comes with a pair of Seymour Duncan JBs (yes the neck pickup is also a JB), 22-frets, Sharkfin inlays(?), unfortunately the gold hardware has tarnished over the years...

It plays well.. suited for what it was made for Rock/Metal stuff.. doubt anyone would wanna play singer-songwriter stuff with this anyway ;P

Had an up-bow when i got it, but its properly setup now by probably the best luthier in singapore, Mr. Malcolm Tan.

9th Guitar - Yamaha Pacifica 112M

My 9th guitar is a Yamaha Pacifica 112M loaded with Seymour Duncan JB with coil-split switch modded in between the knobs, to be honest i had no intention of gettin' this guitar....(oops)

Traded a bass guitar (which i had lying around unused) for this Yammy. I didn't really like the feel & make of it, sound is ok for the price that these run for...

8th Guitar - Fender Traditional Strat

My 8th guitar is my very first Fender strat, after owning two squires guess i just had to try out a Fender.

It's a Traditional Strat in Surf Green loaded with Seymour Duncan Duckbuckers & a DiMarzio stacked-hum in the bridge position(cant remember the exact model..), got it partly cause i was really into Jeff Beck at that time (he remains one of my favorite guitarists)

it's definately better built compared to my squires, has a very nice maple neck...but unfortunately it only has 21-frets....which is why i had to let it go...
